the sea
crashes and washes,
smashes and sloshes,
angrily roars,
spreads hungry paws,
claws and grasps,
draws and rasps,
gripping,
slipping,
rattling stones
and silvered bones,
thin-smoothing sands
and seaweed strands;
then funnels,
still,
in runnels
till
the sea
crashes and washes,
smashes and sloshes,
roars
pause
roars
pause
and on
and on
and on
...
